Jordan Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist, cultural critic, and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. He rose to fame in the early 2010s for his opposition to compelled speech, particularly in regard to Canadian human rights legislation, and his critiques of political correctness and identity politics.

The Concept of “Clean Your Room”
Peterson’s most notable contribution is his concept of “clean your room”, which he introduced in his book “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos”. The idea behind this concept is that small, manageable changes in one’s personal life can lead to larger, more meaningful changes in the world. Peterson argues that by taking responsibility for our own lives and making small, incremental improvements, we can begin to tackle larger societal issues such as inequality and oppression.
Influence of Carl Jung
Peterson’s work has also been heavily influenced by Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. Peterson often references Jung’s concept of the archetype, which describes universal patterns in the human psyche. He argues that these archetypes can help us to understand our own deepest desires and motivations, and can also provide a framework for understanding the cultural and political issues that we face today.
Public Speaking and Media Appearances
In addition to his written work, Peterson is also a popular public speaker and has given many lectures and talks on a variety of topics. He has also been a guest on numerous television and radio programs, and has been featured in several documentaries.

Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos, a simply overview by Richard Uzelac
In twelve essays ranging from practical to profound, Dr. Peterson distils the wisdom of the world into twelve essays on discipline, responsibility, freedom, and adventure.
- Standing up with your shoulders straight – This has been practised as an ancient meditation and Jordan Peterson likes to put light on this through a political view. That people are likely to vote for a politician with temperament although there are other factors when people vote.
- You need to act as though you are a responsible person who can help you in other words, treat yourself as if someone you care about.
- Making friends with those people who share your interests and want to see you succeed
- Not to compare yourself with anyone else but yourself
- Teach your children not to do anything that dislikes you cause if it dislikes you then it will dislike others
- Put your house in perfect order before you criticize the world ( Meaning to look at what’s in front of you before engaging yourself in the large-scale transformation of other people. Be humble.
- To pursue what is meaningful. He says that this is what the whole book is about – having a heightened awareness of who you are, and what does it mean to be true to yourself? Work towards this as much as your can.
- Truth: The first thing you must do is to develop your own personal truth, and then act according to the truth of your own heart. Tell the Truth: As long as you corrupt your own perceptions you will lie, and as long as you corrupt your own perceptions you will have no reliance on yourself.
- Assume that the person you’re talking to knows something you don’t. This is a mark of our recognition of our own ignorance. If we do seem to have a perfect life and nothing in our own lives that we can’t think of putting around and the effects of the people around us then maybe we don’t.
- “Be precise in your speech.” – As this sentence implies. You should know what you want
- Being courageous by mastering something in the face of danger – “Do not bother children while they are skateboarding.”
- “Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street” – It’s learning about how to manage when things get rough. Even when it’s like things get rough in your life and someone else is suffering you’ve got to make the best moment with that someone
Richard Uzelac’s Say on Criticism and Controversy of Jordan Peterson
Peterson’s ideas have been met with both praise and criticism. Many people find his work to be insightful and thought-provoking, while others see it as divisive and harmful. Some critics have accused Peterson of being transphobic, misogynistic, and racist. Peterson himself has denied these accusations, stating that his work is focused on the individual, not on any particular group or identity.
